If you are craving something sweet and delicious, here you have the recipe for the best Raw Chocolate Mousse!

Many studies have shown that cacao affects your emotions and mood by raising serotonin levels, which explains why we crave chocolate when we feel a bit sad.  It contains a milk stimulant called theobromine which is a neurotransmitter sometimes used as a treatment for depression. It also releases the compound anandamide, which produces uniquely euphoric feelings of relaxation and contentment.

Since raw cacao is bitter you need some type of sweetener. You can add maple syrup, but honey is also good. If you want a non-glycemic sweetener use stevia.

Ingredients for Raw Chocolate Mousse:

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 150g (5½oz) pitted dates, soaked for 4–6 hours
  • 50g (1¾oz) cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut butter
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ tsp Himalayan salt
  • Optional toppings: berries, edible flowers, coconut flakes

Scoop the avocado flesh into a blender, add all the remaining ingredients, except the toppings, and blend the mixture on a high setting. Divide the mixture between 4 dessert glasses, decorate with berries, edible flowers or coconut flakes and transfer to the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours before serving.

If you want the mousse to be even more delicious, I suggest adding some raw almond butter and you will be in heaven.
