Here is the easiest way to make a delicious and nutritious raw almond butter!
Many nutrients in almond butter help improve your heart health and lower your risk for heart disease. Omega-3 fatty acids help prevent irregular heart rhythms. Vitamin E may help stop plaque buildup in your arteries. L-arginine can help improve the health of the walls in your arteries.
What you need for the raw almond butter:
- 350g (12oz) activated almonds or other favourite nuts or seeds (you can use unsoaked almonds, but if you soak them for 8 hours, then dehydrate for 40 hours, the nut butter you produce will be tastier and more digestible)
- ½ tsp Himalayan salt
- 80g (2¾oz) shop-bought nut butter or 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (optional)

Put the almonds and salt into the bowl of a food processor.
Please don’t attempt this recipe in a low-quality machine – to make a decent nut butter, you need a powerful food processor. Pulse until the nuts are broken down, then leave the motor running for 5 minutes.
Scrape down the side of the bowl and allow the machine to rest for a few minutes. If you would like a runnier end result, add the optional nut butter or oil at this point, then switch on the food processor and keep the motor running for a further 8 minutes.
The result will be slightly chunkier than commercially bought almond butter.
